Security Camera

Do I need internet or Wi-Fi for security cameras?

Most modern security cameras require a Wi-Fi or internet connection for remote viewing, push notifications, and cloud storage. However, NVR/DVR-based wired CCTV systems from Mr Secured record to a local hard drive 24/7 without needing internet — you can still view footage on-site at any time. Internet access simply adds the ability to monitor your cameras remotely from a phone or computer.

Yes — the CCTV systems Mr Secured installs record continuously 24/7 to a Network Video Recorder (NVR) or Digital Video Recorder (DVR) with hard drive storage. Unlike battery-powered cameras that only record on motion, our wired 4K systems provide uninterrupted coverage. Footage is typically retained for 2–4 weeks depending on the number of cameras and hard drive size.

Yes, significantly. Studies show homes with visible security cameras are far less likely to be targeted by burglars. Our systems use active deterrence cameras with built-in spotlights and sirens that trigger on motion — not just recording after the fact, but actively warning intruders away in real time. Combined with a monitored Ajax alarm, it’s the most effective deterrent available.

Storage duration depends on the number of cameras, recording resolution, and hard drive capacity. A typical Mr Secured installation with a 4–8 camera 4K system and a 2–4TB hard drive will retain footage for 2–4 weeks of continuous recording. We size the NVR to your needs during your free site assessment. Cloud backup options are also available for critical cameras.

Mr Secured installs a range of professional-grade cameras: Turret cameras (discreet, ideal for indoors and covered outdoor areas), Bullet cameras (long-range outdoor coverage), PTZ cameras (pan/tilt/zoom for large areas), and Active deterrence cameras with built-in spotlights and sirens. All cameras are 4K/8MP resolution with colour night vision.

Yes. All Mr Secured CCTV systems come with smartphone app access (iOS and Android) so you can view live footage from anywhere in the world. You’ll also receive motion-triggered push notifications. We set up remote access as part of every installation and show you how to use it before we leave.

Alarm Systems

What type of alarm system do you recommend?

Mr Secured specialises in Ajax wireless alarm systems — the world’s leading Grade 2 certified wireless security platform. Unlike older wired alarm systems, Ajax uses encrypted two-way communication, has a built-in backup battery (up to 36 hours), and connects to your smartphone for real-time alerts. We recommend Ajax for homes and businesses due to its reliability, tamper detection, and zero monthly fees for self-monitoring.

A self-monitored alarm (like Ajax) sends alerts directly to your smartphone when triggered — there are no monthly fees. A professionally monitored alarm connects to a 24/7 monitoring centre that contacts you and/or emergency services when the alarm is triggered. Mr Secured can set up both options. Self-monitoring is the most popular choice for homeowners looking to avoid ongoing costs.

Yes — modern wireless systems like Ajax are extremely reliable. Ajax uses encrypted 868 MHz radio frequency independent of your home Wi-Fi, so even if your internet goes down the system keeps working. It has a built-in backup battery (up to 36 hours), anti-jamming detection, and tamper alerts. Ajax is used by security professionals across 130+ countries and is Grade 2 certified to Australian standards.

Yes — in Queensland, alarm systems must be installed by a licensed security technician. Mr Secured holds all required Queensland security industry licences. Professional installation ensures your system meets Australian standards (AS 2201), is correctly positioned for maximum detection, and is programmed to suit your specific property. DIY installation may void insurance coverage and leaves your system unverified.

In most cases, yes — having a professionally installed alarm system can reduce your home insurance premium by 5–20%, depending on your insurer. Many insurers specifically require a monitored alarm for contents cover on high-value items. Ask Mr Secured about providing a certificate of compliance after installation to submit to your insurer.

Yes. Ajax alarm systems integrate with your CCTV system so that when the alarm is triggered, it automatically triggers your cameras to start recording and can activate spotlights and sirens. Ajax MotionCam detectors also capture a photo burst when motion is detected, giving you visual verification of any alert — all within the same Ajax app used for your alarm.
