What Does CCTV Installation Cost in Brisbane? Realistic Figures for 2025

The most common question we get before a site assessment is: “What’s it going to cost?” It’s a fair question, and the honest answer is that it depends significantly on the property — how many entry points need covering, how difficult the cable runs are, whether the roof space is accessible, and what system specification makes sense for the situation.

That said, here’s a realistic range for Brisbane residential and light commercial installations so you have something to benchmark against before we visit.

Residential CCTV Installation — Typical Cost Ranges

A basic residential system — 4 cameras, PoE NVR with a 2TB drive, professional installation and configuration — typically falls between $1,800 and $2,800 installed. This covers a standard suburban house with a front camera, driveway camera, side gate camera, and rear yard camera, run from accessible roof space with no particularly difficult cabling.

An 8-camera residential system on a larger block or two-storey property, with a 4TB NVR and cameras at all entry points including secondary garage access and interior coverage, typically runs $3,200 to $4,800 installed. The wider range here reflects how much cable run difficulty and access issues can affect labour time.

These figures are for hardwired PoE systems at 4K resolution with AI detection — not budget wireless cameras, not 1080p recorders that will need replacing in two years, and not systems that cost $300 at Bunnings and require you to manage your own cloud subscription.

What Drives the Price Up or Down

The biggest variable in labour cost is cabling difficulty. A standard post-war Queensland house with open roof space, internal wall access, and no brick to drill through is a straightforward install. A double-brick 1970s home with no roof access, slabs throughout, and external cabling that needs to be run in conduit takes significantly more time. Two houses can have identical camera counts and end up with quite different quotes for this reason.

NVR storage also affects cost. Moving from a 2TB to a 4TB drive adds a modest amount to the equipment cost but roughly doubles your footage retention at the same resolution and camera count. For clients whose insurers require 30 days of footage, this isn’t optional — it’s worth specifying properly from the start rather than discovering you need more storage after installation.

Camera specifications affect cost at the equipment level. A 4K colour night vision camera with AI detection costs more than a basic 1080p IR camera. Over a 7–10 year system life, the difference in per-year cost is modest, but the difference in what you get — particularly for after-dark identification — is significant.

What’s Included in Every Installation

When we quote a job, the quote covers everything: equipment supply, all cabling, installation labour, NVR configuration, camera positioning and angle adjustment, network setup for remote viewing, and a walkthrough with you so you understand how to use the system. There are no “per-hour” charges for going over time and no extras for conduit that turned out to be necessary on the day.

All our installations include a warranty on parts and labour. If a camera or the NVR develops a fault within the warranty period, we come back and fix it — we don’t charge a call-out fee or tell you to contact the manufacturer directly.

Commercial CCTV Pricing

Commercial installations vary too widely to give useful ballpark figures — a 6-camera retail shop is a very different job to a 24-camera warehouse with access control integration. For commercial enquiries, the most useful thing is a site visit where Jarrod can assess what’s actually required. We provide itemised quotes so you can see exactly what you’re paying for.
